The Horrors are a five-piece garage rock band who formed in the summer of 2005. They released their debut album Strange House on March 5 of 2007. Strange House reached #37 on the UK charts. They have polarised opinion in the popular music scene by their unusual choice of apparel and obscure musical inspirations.
Band members
Faris Rotter (Faris Badwan) - Vocals
Joshua Third (Formerly Von Grimm) (Joshua Hayward) - Guitar
Tomethy Furse (Tom Cowan) - Bass
Spider Webb (Rhys Webb) - Combo organ
Coffin Joe (Joseph Spurgeon) - Drums
Joshua Third
Joshua Hayward (better known as Joshua Third, previously, "Joshua Von Grimm") (born on December 15, 1984), is the guitarist for the UK garage rock band The Horrors. Joshua grew up on the Thames area of Canvey Island before attending secondary school at Westcliff High School for Boys in Southend-on-sea. He also studied at University College London where he gained a BSc in Physics. He is known to be influenced by bands such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Birthday Party, The Fire Engines and Sonic Youth. Like other members of The Horrors, he is recognisable in the current UK popular music scene by his unusual choice of apparel and hairstyle.
Faris Rotter
Faris Badwan (born 1986, Southend-On-Sea, also known as Faris Rotter) is the main vocalist for the UK garage rock band The Horrors. He attended Rugby School (1999 to 2004) alongside The Horrors' bassist Tom Cowan (aka Tomethy Furse) before moving to London to study Illustration at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He has deferred this course to concentrate on his musical career with the band. He was also declared the coolest student in Britain by popular music magazine, NME.
Tomethy Furse
Tom Cowan (better known as Tomethy Furse) (born on March 11th 1987) is the bass player and fawn impressionist for Southend based group The Horrors.
Tom began a degree in Graphic Design but later described it as "a waste of time"; instead he took up the studying of fawns during a seven week course in the New Forest, since he claimed to fit in better with his peers there.
For the band's fanzine he added Tomethy Furse's Guide to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. And appears to be a fan of the music created there as his myspace features the orginal themetune to Dr. Who, created mainly by Delia Derbyshire at the workshop.
He is in the ~*~side-project~*~ Spider And The Flies with Rhys "Spider" Webb. Their sound is instrumental and is inspired by the work of Delia Derbyshire, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, as well as Joe Meek-produced instrumentals.
Coffin Joe
Joseph Spurgeon (better known as Coffin Joe) (born on January 21, 1986), is the Drummer of Southend group The Horrors.
In the bands Fanzine handed out to fans at gigs he contributed a section called "How to make your own skinny jeans/cigarette pants" and later a guide to"Coffin Joe's Beat Step Part 1".
He is also referred to as the party animal of the band.
He is known to be solely responsible for friction in the band on several occasions, due to his incessant habits of stealing Haribo sweets from the white shoes of Guitarist Joshua Third.
He is also well known for a YouTube Video of him dancing

Rhys 'Spider' Webb
Rhys Webb (better known as Spider Webb) (born on February 18, 1983), is the keyboard/organ player for Southend band The Horrors.
Equipment
He mainly uses a Vox Continental which is a transistor-based combo organ that was introduced in 1962 but has been known to use Farfisa's and Hammond's as well.
Spider Webb was one of the founders of Southend's legendary 'Junk Club' in the basement of a decaying Victorian hotel which is where the members of The Horrors met.
He tends to do most of the talking to the press and can be seen on YouTube giving a tour of the set of The Horrors' video "Gloves" for NME, and with Faris Badwan/ Faris Rotter (the singer of The Horrors) commenting on random objects such as a banana and TCP for the Guardian Unlimited.
It is disputed over Horrors fans over whether he or Tomethy Furse provided the vocals for the song Excellent Choice. Faris has been quoted as saying "It was Tom." but it is widely regarded as Spider Webb.
He is in the ~*~side-project~*~ Spider And The Flies with Tomethy Furse. Their sound is instrumental and is inspired by the work of Delia Derbyshire, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, as well as Joe Meek-produced instrumentals.
